Short History:  Operating since 1897 as an alliance of churches focused primarily on missionary work, the church was founded by a Canadian Presbyterian pastor, A.B. Simpson, who was leading a church in New York City.  A series of events led him to believe that Christ was calling him to minister to the less fortunate of the city.  He established the Missionary Training Institute to educate others in mission work at home and abroad. Today's church concentrates on church planting as well as continuing its missionary emphasis.
