Protestant Denominations
his overview of denominations in the United States serves the needs of Louisville Seminary students who wish to visit churches outside their own traditions, and to help them as they move into ministry and agency positions where they will need to be able to speak intelligently and respectfully with pastors and co-workers of other faith traditions.
Hispanic/Latin American Theologies
Hispanic theology can be defined as the distinct theologies that emerge out of the social and cultural contexts of Latino/a peoples which have some shared characteristics. These common traits make Latino/a theology a communal undertaking that is scholarly, pastoral, and organically connected to grassroots communities.
Queer Theologies
In a nutshell, queer theology is inclusive to individuals' sexual and gender identity and allows the LGBTQ+ community to reclaim what they see as their rightful space in Christianity as well as other religions and faith traditions. Furthermore, Queer theology posits the assumption that gender variance and queer desire have always been present in human history, including faith traditions and their sacred texts such as the Jewish scriptures and the Bible.
Black Church Studies
he E.M. White Library houses a robust Black Church Studies (BCS) collection, comprised of both print and remote materials that support the Black Church Studies program at Louisville Seminary. These materials focus on the practices and theology of African American churches and other Christian practices throughout the African diaspora, and issues that affect the African American community. This collection is housed on the first floor, adjacent to the Reference Room.
