Short History:  Founded as the Swedish Evangelical Mission Covenant of America in Chicago, IL in 1885 by Swedish Lutheran pietists who had left Sweden due to the suppression of their denomination.  Name changed to Evangelical Covenant Church of America in 1954.  The "of America" part was dropped as a Canadian conference was formed.
