Core Beliefs: "Our understanding of Baptist faith and practice is expressed by our emphasis on freedom in biblical interpretation and congregational governance, the participation of women and men in all aspects of church leadership and Christian ministry, and religious liberty for all people."  These freedoms take expression as Soul Freedom, Bible Freedom, Church Freedom, and Religious Freedom.

Short History:  The CBF was formed in reaction to the increasingly conservative direction of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and the conservative take over of the Southern Baptist seminaries.  CBF member churches felt the SBC was departing from the historical Baptist distinctives of Bible Freedom and Church Freedom.

Local Churches:  There are several churches in Louisville.  The closest to campus is probably the best known Baptist Church in town, Highland Baptist Church, 1101 Cherokee Rd, Louisville, KY 40204.   Crescent Hill Baptist Church at 2800 Frankfort Ave., Louisville, KY 40206 is another nearby option.  Crescent Hill Baptist is a member of the Association of Welcoming & Affirming Baptists.  Also near campus is St. Matthews Baptist Church, 3515 Grandview Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky 40207.  For other locations, use the Find a Church function.
