Faculty Guide

Faculty: Library instruction and reference services.

Collaborating with library staff on research for class can certainly enhance your student's classwork. This can be done in a variety of ways as this service is customizable. As you know, students come to higher education setting (at all levels) with a wide variety of research experience. It is easy to assume they already know how to conduct research.

Targeted library instruction saves your student's time, reduces frustration, feelings of overwhelm, and gets them the results they need to succeed. Referring students to library materials and services can help instill successful research habits and skills that will serve our students (and graduates) well for a lifetime.  Librarians can assist students in this endeavor in a variety of ways:

  • In-class sessions
  • Online research guides
  • Video tutorials
  • Embed library information in Canvas modules
  • One-on-one consultations or review on research assignments
